This Centre for Climate Resilience and Green Education (CCRAGE) - Sadhu Kuppuswamy Campus - Rakiraki is a collaboration between the Then India Sanmarga Ikya Sangam (TISI) and Green Environmental Services Fiji (GES Fiji). CCRAGE is a first ever stand-alone centre for Climate Resilience and Green Education not only in Fiji but in the region. The Joint Venture agreement signed in December 2024, between GES Fiji and TISI Sangam Fiji is for a period of five years from 2026-2030 and designates 2025 as an additional preparatory year. CC RAGE is more than an educational hub; it is a proactive voice addressing Fiji and the region's vulnerability to climate change impacts like rising sea levels, intensified storms, and ecosystem degradation, which threaten livelihoods, food security, and resilience. Focusing on marginalized groups—women, youth, people with disabilities, and subsistence farmers—CC RAGE uses Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to build adaptive capacity and foster resilience. Coastal communities in Ra, Fiji’s Suncoast, face heightened risks as traditional livelihoods erode. CC RAGE integrates hands-on, community-driven training, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable income streams like carbon trading. By incorporating Local, Indigenous, and Traditional Knowledge (LITK) and mainstreaming Gender Equity, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), CCRAGE empowers communities to shape resilient, self-reliant futures, reducing dependency on external aid.
